Crazy Rainbow Fishing Report 10/16/23

Grey Reef: 10/16/23

Flows-  503  CFS

Fishing Report  ~

The river is still somewhat hazy since our first winter storm here in Casper. The fishing has been good with hatches coming off during the warmer times of the day. Still some moss floating throughout the river but still fishable. For flies look at using black mayhem midges, green machine, pheasant tail, bruised black balanced leech, blue wings depending on temps, Caddis Patterns, pseudo’s all size 18-20. Streamers are doing fair on the swing.

Miracle Mile: 10/16/23

Flows-  545 CFS

Fishing Report ~

With fall fast approaching the most exciting time to fish the mile is here as well. Keep an eye out for the big browns heading into the mile to spawn as well as some kokanee. The lower mile has been the best with the upper parts being a little slow. Streamers have been good on slow lazy swings. Other bugs that are doing well include midges, leeches, caddis and very similar patterns to the reef should work.

Fremont Canyon: 10/16/23

Flows- 84 CFS

Fishing Report ~

We are hearing positive reports in the Canyon. Flows are at operational levels and fair water clarity! Caddis, in the afternoon and tan/black leeches have been most productive on the nymph rig. Rock worms are also working well including dry’s so keep an eye out for any hatches. If you are debating on what parts to fish the faster sections of water seem to be fishing the best. Very similar to the reef look for blue wing and caddis hatches.

The Big Horn: 10/16/23

Flows- 1,289 CFS

Fishing Report ~

The Big Horn has been fishing well with cleaner water conditions. Dry’s have been doing very well so keep an eye out for afternoon hatches.

Look at caddis and some blue wing patterns if you see any hatches. Streamers are doing well so look at using white/flashy or olive/flashy streamers such as the Rusty Trombone/Articulated Goldie, Laser Legal/Barely Legal patterns. For nymphs look at caddis, duracell’s, and Midge’s.
