North Platte River Fishing Report
(Grey Reef, Fremont Canyon, Miracle Mile) 7/17/22
Grey Reef:
Flows- 3,000 CFS
Fishing Report– The Reef is moving at about 3,000 CFS and we are stoked on how it is fishing. Trico’s are coming off in the morning, and though the fish are not looking up quite yet, they have been hitting the Gould Drowned Spinner Trico consistently. PMD’s have been the bug of choice in the midafternoon. The Split Case PMD in specific has been a productive pattern. If you are planning to hit the water in the evening, Caddis and Yellow Sallies are beginning to show face.
Miracle Mile:
Flows- 1,200 CFS
Fishing Report- The Mile has been fishing well the last few weeks! The Stonefly hatch has come and gone, but fishing is still productive on the nymph rig and streamer. PMDs and Yellow Sallies have been working well on the nymph rig paired with a red San Juan as the point fly. The tried-and-true Articulated Goldie is the go to streamer pattern on the Mile at the moment.
Fremont Canyon:
Flows- 850 CFS
Fishing Report- The flows at Fremont Canyon are much higher compared to what we typically see. With that being said, Fremont is fishing very well. The bump in water flooded some back channels that has made for ideal fishing. Small black midges, the purple Jackson MacGruber, and rock worms are the go to patterns at this time.
Carp:
Ideal weather conditions have made carping a great option as the weather (and water) warms up. The Carp Craw in olive and the Clowser Crayfish have been fishing well.
