Crazy Rainbow Fishing Report

Crazy Rainbow Fishing Report 10/16/23

Grey Reef: 3/13/24

Flows-  500  CFS

Fishing Report  ~

Winter fishing on the Grey Reef has been fishing very well. Bugs have stayed fairly similar throughout the winter season. Look at use midges in the size 20-18 size range, Leeches either black natural or brown, scuds orange/olive. Streamers have also been doing well stick with the old rusty trombone. FYI: The Bureau of Reclamation has set the dates for the fluctuating flows of the spring flush. These will begin March 25th to April 3rd. Flows will be anywhere from 500 cfs – 4,000 cfs during these days. See below for a schedule of flow fluctuations. These flows will repeat daily and end on the 3rd. We recommend using caution as areas that are normally wadable can become dangerous to enter quickly. For any questions or concerns feel free to give the shop a call!

Miracle Mile: 3/24/24

Flows-  542 CFS

Fishing Report ~

Streamers have been good on slow lazy swings. Other bugs that are doing well include midges, leeches, caddis and very similar patterns to the reef should work. The mile has been fishing good as well but is not as consistent as the Reef.

Fremont Canyon: 3/13/24

Flows- 75 CFS

Fishing Report ~

We are hearing positive reports in the Canyon. Flows are at operational levels and fair water clarity! Tan/black leeches have been most productive on the nymph rig. Rock worms are also working well and an assortment of midge patterns. If you are debating on what parts to fish the faster sections of water seem to be fishing the best.

The Big Horn: 3/13/24

Flows- 1,017 CFS

Fishing Report ~

The Big Horn has been fishing well with cleaner water conditions.Streamers are doing well so look at using white/flashy or olive/flashy streamers such as the Rusty Trombone/Articulated Goldie, Laser Legal/Barely Legal patterns. For nymphs look at HH and regular sowbugs, duracell’s, and Midge’s.
