North Platte River Fishing Report
(Grey Reef, Fremont Canyon, Miracle Mile) 10/04/22
Grey Reef:
Flows- 500 CFS
Fishing Report- October is here! With temperatures cooling down, streamer and dry fly fishing is at its best! You will not want to miss out on this time of year. In terms of streamers, the Articulated Goldie and Rusty Trombone are always tried and true favorites. Galloup’s Barely Legal and the articulated Thinmint come in close second. With flows stable at 500 from here until the Spring, we recommend using a slow sink leader to ensure your flies hit the ideal water column. For dry flies, Elk hair Caddis, Parachute Adams and Extended Body BWO’s are productive. Subsurface bugs include Bird’s Nest Caddis in the purple variant and Perdigons in the black and purple variants.
Miracle Mile:
Flows- 530 CFS
Fishing Report- The Mile has been moving at around 530 CFS for a while now. The cooler temperatures have brought the water back into the safe zone. The Mile has been fishing best subsurface with Baetis patterns, small midges, and worms. Specifically, the purple MacGruber, black Mayhem, and wine San Juan has made for a good setup. Caddis and BWO’s are fishing well on this stretch too.
Fremont Canyon:
Flows- 80 CFS
Fishing Report- Fremont is currently pretty off color, but we are still hearing positive reports. Fremont is fishing similar to the Reef with mostly Caddis and BWO’s on the menu.
