Fishing Report 06/30/2026

Fishing has been good overall across the North Platte system this past week.

The big story has been all the rain we received mixed with a bump in flows, which pushed some dirty water into the lower river. Below Sechrist is still carrying some color, but conditions are improving every day as things continue to clear. Earlier this week, they pushed 2,000 CFS through the Reef. Though they have steadied out our flows, the 2,000 helped clean the upper stretches.

Despite the stained water, fish are still eating. We’ve seen some fish looking up during the early morning hours and again during the last few hours before dark. No promises, but if you’re looking to target fish on dries, those windows continue to be your best bet. During the middle of the day, nymphing remains the most consistent producer. With the added color in the water, don’t overlook streamers either.

Grey Reef is moving at 1,425 CFS. This is a great level that has water in many of our favorite banks, side channels, and secondary pieces of water. If you’ve been fishing the same spots lately, now is a good time to explore a little and try some different water. Tricos in the morning, Caddis and PMDs mid day, and Yellow Sallies in the late afternoon.

Fremont Canyon is running at 2,300 CFS (WOWZA!). These are very high flows for the Canyon, so use extra caution when accessing and fishing in the area.

The Miracle Mile is currently at 530 CFS. We have not received any reports of golden stone activity yet. Fishing has been a little tougher on the Mile this season with the lower water conditions, but there are still fish to be caught. We are seeing he same hatch activity as the Reef.

As always, stop by the shop for the latest report, bug recommendations, and a fresh look at conditions before heading out. Good luck, stay safe, and we’ll see you on the water.
