Fishing Report 06/24/2026

Hope all the dads out there had a great Father’s Day weekend and were able to spend some time on the water.

The North Platte continues to fish well. Tricos have been the main event most mornings, getting fish actively feeding early in the day. There are a few fish looking up if you’re interested in playing the dry fly game. As the trico hatch tapers off, PMDs and caddis start to take over and keep the action going.

Flows are currently around 1,000 CFS, which is a nice bump from where we were a week or so ago. Even with the added water, we’re still fishing fairly light and not especially deep. The fishing has been productive, with a wide variety of flies getting the job done. Crust Nymph PMDs and the Depth Charge Caddis are two of our favorite patterns in specific. Duracells and more buggy, generic, representative patterns are also producing. Worms, leeches, and crawdads have their place in the mix as well.

Seems like Fremont and the Mile have been alright as well. Think smaller, buggier for Fremont- it is moving at the usual 75 CFS. The Mile is fishing with similar patterns as the Reef. Both are worth checking out.

If you have questions, need fly recommendations, or want help planning your trip, don’t hesitate to give the Ugly Bug a call or stop by the shop. We’re open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
