New year, new regulation! As of January first, some new regulation has gone into affect on the Miracle Mile, Grey Reef, and Fremont Canyon. There is also a new spawning closure on the Reef.
Miracle Mile, Gray Reef, and Fremont Canyon Regulation Changes
- All hooks must be single point, barbless. This goes for all 3 stretches. THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE AFTERBAY SECTION ABOVE GRAY REEF DAM.
- Pegged attractors are prohibited at Fremont Canyon and the Gray Reef. Pegged attractors are still legal on the Miracle Mile.
- From the Grey Reef Dam to Government Bridge, the use of artificial flies and lures is required. The use of bait, live bait, and worms are prohibited. (For clarification on this, please refer to the WGF regulations linked below)

New Spawning Closure
- The usual Cable to Cable closure remains, closed from April 1st through May 15th.
- The new closure will NOT HAVE CABLES, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SIGNS! This new closure is from Ledge Creek to S Gulch (just around the bend from Wind Island). This is also closed from April 1st to May 15th.
Commercial Guide Registration
As of January 1st, there is a mandatory registration for commercially-guided fishing boats. All boats must be registered each year, and must display registration sticker. The fee is $325, annually. This can be purchased on the WGF website.
