Crazy Rainbow Fishing Report

(09-19-2023)

Grey Reef:

Flows-   1,495 CFS

Fishing Report-

Last week water levels were dropped to their winter levels of around 500 cfs which has now been boosted up  to 1,500 cfs overnight. This will flush quite a bit of moss out of the river and cause murkier water. Dry’s are working the best right now and are in full swing so keep an eye out for trico and caddis hatches. Cooler nights are helping the caddis thrive so look at using tan/black caddis patterns. Flies to use include, bug meister, chubby chernobyl, perdigon’s, birds nest caddis. With cooler days approaching streamer action is also starting! Look at using a tan/white ditch witch during the bright sunny days and streamers like the rusty trombone during cloudy days.

Miracle Mile:

Flows- 1,015 CFS

Fishing Report-

The Mile’s flows are down a couple hundred cfs from last week which means a great time to wade! If going out similar patterns to the reef should work. With fall fast approaching the most exciting time to fish the mile is here as well. Keep an eye out for the big browns heading into the mile to spawn as well as kokanee.

Fremont Canyon:

Flows- 84 CFS

Fishing Report-

We are hearing positive reports in the Canyon. Flows are at operational levels and fair water clarity! Trico’s and Caddis, in the afternoon and tan/black leeches have been most productive on the nymph rig. Rock worms are also working well including dry’s so keep an eye out for any hatches. If you are debating on what parts to fish the faster sections of water seem to be fishing the best.

The Big Horn:

Flows- 1,303 CFS

Fishing Report-

The Big Horn has been fishing very well. Hoppers have been fishing well on the edges. Olive scuds and streamers have also been productive but tough with floating moss throughout the river. Hares ear patterns and bird nest are great flies to add to the nymph rig!
