Spring Flush and Snowmelt Forecast
For the North Platte River in Casper, WY
Information provided by The Bureau of Reclamation
The Bureau of Reclamation has announced that they will be running the Flush from March 20th to March 29th. On March 20th, flows below the Grey Reef Dam will fluctuate between 450 CFS and 4,000 CFS. Once the Flush is complete, flows will restabilize to 450 CFS. It will still fish during the flush, but we urge wade fisherman and those on boats alike to be cautious of these fluctuating flows. The Flush is subject to change depending on the amount of ice on the river. If anything changes, we will update the blog promptly.
The Bureau of Reclamation has also released their March snowmelt runoff forecast for the North Platte River in Casper, WY. Current projections show that runoff above Glendo Dam is expected to be 120% above the 30 year average. Seminoe Reservoir is currently releasing 530 CFS through the Miracle Mile. Flows in May, June, and July are expected to peak around 2,600 CFS. The Grey Reef Reservoir is currently releasing 450 CFS. Flows can be expected anywhere between 1,000 and 2,600 CFS throughout the season. As per usual, these projections are subject to change.
We will continue to update this information as it comes to us. Keep an eye out for our fishing reports we release on Wednesdays. These fishing reports will include the most up to date information as far as the Flush and current flows are concerned.
