The river is still pretty mossy, but fishing well. Nymphs, streamers and dries are catching fish, with the best times to get out being mornings and late afternoon. We are starting to see some blue wing olives, and the trico fishing has been good.
Nymphing:
Fishing has been productive when fishing tricos in the morning and as the morning progresses PMD’s will start to take fish. Later in the day caddis have been working well.
Recommended Flies:
- Midges (Pal, McGrubber, Mayhem) Size 18-20
- BH Crystal PMD Size 16-18
- Tail Water Tiny Size (20)
- McGruber PMD (18-20)
- Mitchells Split Case PMD (18-20)
- Bird’s Nest Caddis (14-18)
Streamer Fishing:
Streamers have taken a few fish for anglers willing to stick with throwing the big stuff. As fall quickly starts streamer fishing will continue to heat up.
Recommended Streamers:
- Rusty Trombone Size 4-8
- Articulated Goldie Size Size 4
- Articulated Ditch Witch Tan
- Bob’s Silver Bugger
Hopper fishing:
Hoppers are still taking fish with the most effective rigs being hopper dropper setups with a caddis nymph as the dropper.
Recommended Hoppers:
- Hi-Vis Hopper Tan (6-10)
- Mini Fomulator (14-16)
- Super Chernobyl (8-12)
- Chubby Cernobyl (6-12)

” The solution to any problem — work, love, money, whatever — is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be.”
