Not much has changed on the ol fishing report front. The good news is that water temperatures continue to improve throughout the North Platte system. We aren’t getting too comfortable just yet, though. We still keep temperatures top of mind, and the voluntary closure below Lusby remains in effect on Grey Reef. That said, things are moving in the right direction, and we’re happy to see it.
The bug game remains pretty simple. Tricos continue to get the party started in the mornings. Caddis take over in the afternoons. No need to overthink it. Stick with the basics and adjust as the bugs change throughout the day.
We also want to thank everyone who has stopped by the shop asking about water temperatures and closures. It’s been a weird water year across much of the West, but it’s brought out the best in anglers. We appreciate how many folks have taken the time to check conditions, adjust their plans, and look out for the fishery. It doesn’t go unnoticed, and we’re grateful to have anglers who care as much as they do.
The forecast continues to trend cooler, and fall feels closer every day. Keep an eye on conditions, enjoy the cooler weather, and get ready. Big fish season sits just around the corner.
