Just popping in with a quick North Platte fishing report.
The Casper area took a hit from a heavy rainstorm last week. The runoff pushed a lot of color into the river and muddied things up below Lusby. While the fishing suffered for a bit, we welcomed the moisture with open arms. Wyoming needs every drop it can get. The voluntary hoot owl closure below Lusby remains in effect.
The good news? Grey Reef still flows at 800 CFS, and conditions improve every day. The river continues to cleanup. If you plan to fish the Reef, stay as close to the dam as possible. You’ll find the cleanest water and the best fishing there.
Because of the conditions on the Reef, we’ve spent more time fishing the Miracle Mile. The Mile continues to fish like the Mile. It won’t give up huge numbers every day, but anglers still find quality fish. The recent stretch of cool, cloudy weather has helped maintain stable water temperatures. A little rain has helped as well.
We’re hopeful this cooler pattern sticks around. We’ll gladly take a few more cloudy days and a little more moisture. Fall isn’t here yet, but it finally feels like we’re moving in the right direction. On that note, we have also added new items to our sale bin to prep for the change in season.
