Fishing Report 08/12/2026

August is flying by, and while summer isn’t quite done with us yet. Rest assured there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Reef is holding steady at 800 CFS, and fishing continues to be productive. The voluntary closure below Lusby remains in effect. We’ve been encouraged by overcast weather and lower overnight temperatures. The good news? There are still plenty of fish to be found above Lusby. We’ve even had some opportunities to fish dry droppers, which is always exciting around these parts.

The bug game remains pretty straightforward. Tricos are getting things started early in the morning, followed by caddis and Yellow Sallies as the day progresses.

Up at the Miracle Mile, flows have been dropped to 530 CFS. There are currently no voluntary closures in place. It is still worth keeping an eye on water temperatures during the warmest part of the day. The same flies are producing fish up there, although the bite seems to be a little more caddis heavy lately.

Given the warm temperatures and low flows, we’ve taken a beat from fishing Fremont. The aforementioned cooler temps and overcast conditions may change this. Keep getting out there early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid any water temp funkiness. You know the drill at this point: Tricos, Caddis, and Sallys. Check out some fly recs below!
