First things first, thank you. More than 70 public comments came in during the latest Seminoe Pumped Storage Project comment period. That’s quite a feat, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
We know this process isn’t easy. Navigating public comment periods, reviewing project documents, and submitting thoughtful comments takes time and effort. Every person who participated helped make sure Wyoming’s concerns were heard. We appreciate everyone who showed up and took the time to speak up for our waters, wildlife, and public lands.
The only notable update came on the final day of public comment. The project proponent submitted a comment stating that additional environmental study was unnecessary. We see this as another sign that public engagement matters. The proponent had 30 days to raise concerns about the review process before the public comments came rolling in. Yet, people showed up and made their voices heard.
So, what’s next? We’re waiting for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) following the additional review initiated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The current schedule lists January as the expected release date. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if the process takes longer.
In the meantime, we’ll keep tracking developments and sharing updates as they come. This fight isn’t over, and staying engaged remains important.
Thank you for helping protect the places that make Wyoming special. We’re in this together.
