North Platte/Gray Reef Fishing Report May 18, 2016:
We are finally starting to see a break in the weather and have not had rain for a couple of days now. It has helped slow the runoff and dirty water. Flows at the Reef are at 3,000 cfs. The Mile is now at 4,500 cfs, so please use caution when wading. The clarity on the river is starting to right itself and clarity is improving. As of late larger red and purple san juans and rock worms, eggs, leeches have been top producers. Some baetis stuff is working as well with juju baetis, mayhem midges, and pheasants tails.
Given the large amount of runoff that is in the forecast we suspect that we will continue to see flows raising as the warmer weather shows up. As always, we will keep you posted of changes in the flows. It appears that we should have another fantastic season on the Platte!
