It was another crazy busy weekend for us. Cool weather (for August!) greeted us and allowed for some really good late summer fishing. Water temps are still hovering in the mid 50’s with minimal moss to contend with. Fish seem to be holding in the faster runs and riffles. A short and heavy rig 3-5ft with either an AB or BB weight, or a longer lighter rig 5-7ft.to a #1 or #4 all seem to be working. Morning bugs that seem to be working the best are amber clingers, mayhem midge in gray, black, trico spinners. We are still seeing some steady hatches of tricos in the morning and on certain sections there are fish up eating them. Mid day we have been switching to smaller pmd patterns with Mitchell’s split case pmd, poxyback pmd, along with hares ears and pheasant tails as well.
