Short and sweet update for the North Platte. Overall, fall fishing on the North Platte River has been productive. Dry fly and dry-dropper action has been a tick slower than normal. The afternoon fall caddis hatch hasn’t been as strong, though BWOs have been coming off juussssttt fine. Some sections have also seen increased turbidity and dirty water.
Construction work in town and recent rain have muddied parts of the river. Normally, low winter flows and gin-clear water get fish looking up. Regardless, nymphing and streamer fishing have been solid. Mid to lower sections could still be dirty. Check water clarity before committing to a float. The upper section is ready to rumble.
Grey Reef: Start with worms, leeches, and crawdad patterns. BWO nymphs and midges are also good bets. Streamers have been moving fish for those so inclined.
Miracle Mile: The Mile has been picking up, with fish moving into the system. Similar patterns are producing. Swinging streamers can also be a good bet. Please be kind to spawning browns. Those fish on redds can be tempting, but leave them alone.
Fremont Canyon: Fishing has been good on smaller BWO and midge patterns. There is also some potential dry fly action.
