The fight to protect the North Platte River system is far from over.
Recently, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced that additional environmental review will be required before amendments to the Rawlins Resource Management Plan can move forward. This is an important development and another opportunity for Wyoming residents to have their voices heard.
The BLM is currently accepting what are known as “scoping comments.” These comments help determine what issues should be studied during the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement process. In simple terms, the agency is asking the public what concerns deserve a closer look before decisions are made.
This is your chance to raise concerns about water quality, the Miracle Mile fishery, bighorn sheep habitat, public access, recreation, tourism, local businesses, or any other issue you believe may be affected by the proposed Seminoe Pumped Storage Project.
This additional review did not happen by accident. It happened because people took the time to get involved, ask questions, and speak up. The current comment period closes on October 13, 2026. Comments can be submitted through the FERC portal under Docket Number P-14787.
Now is the time to submit a comment, share information with others, and continue reaching out to elected officials. Every voice matters, and every comment helps ensure Wyoming’s rivers, wildlife, public lands, and communities receive the careful consideration they deserve.
