The Grey Reef
The fishing has continued to hold up on this section. Normally as we slide into August, we can hit blips on the radar with the “dog days “of summer. It has continued to be steadily producing. We are stoked on that! Grass and weeds have been manageable and not too bad for the time of year. Still PMD, caddis, and tricos in the morning. Worms, leeches and streamers have their place in the repertoire as well. Flows are still 2300 cfs. As you get lower in the system be mindful of temperatures and be kind to our fish. Once we get into mid – September look for those to change. Speaking of September, mid and even into October can be a fantastic time to be in this neck of the woods. If you haven’t fished at this time of year, it is highly recommended. If you have, then you know. Dates are filling in, and if you would like to get a trip on the books, now is a great time to get it lined up.
The Miracle Mile
The Mile was dropped to 530 cfs. It is on the mossy side and fishing has been a little more hit or miss to be honest. It could get tougher as we move into the depths of summer- especially as water temperatures are concerned. We’ll see. Look for it to improve as we move into fall and cooler temps. The Mile can always be a great place to go, and you never know. If you go, temper expectations and you still might find that big ol boy you are after. Further more, check those water temps before getting into it.
Fremont Canyon
The Canyon has also continued to be a fun place to poke around. Flows are 80 cfs. Similar bugs as the Reef add in some dry and drop options, and when in doubt small and buggy.
