Summer is full swing! Hope everyone is staying cool and getting fishy. Flows on the Reef bumped to 2300 CFS, Mile is at 1500 CFS, and Fremont is at 80 CFS.
The Reef
The Reef has continued to fish well. Like last report- PMD’s, Caddis, Yellow Sallies are all present and on the trout’s radar. Trico’s in the morning. With the bump, sallies and tricos set back a little, but look for them to ramp up again. It was nice to get some more water; the river was warming up and this should help with water temps and health of the fish. The increase in flows broke some moss and weeds loose, but it has already settled down and shouldn’t be too bad. The bump in the river could limit some wade fishing opportunities, for those not floating. Streamers have been moving some fish as well. All in all the Reef is fishing well.
The Mile
The Mile has been what we expect for the mile- PMD’s and caddis are the staples right now. Even though the stonefly hatch is in the rear-view mirror, rubber legs are picking up some still. If you are floating at the lower end of the Mile, just be aware as the lake drops, it can get sandy and it is easy to get a truck stuck.
Fremont Canyon
Fremont is holding in there, and a lot of happy folks are coming back from there. A variety of small nymphs ( PMD, Caddis and midge) fished throughout the water column has been working.
