We are about half way through our winter fly tying series: Tie One On Tuesdays. The UBCR Crew is feeling inspired by the Casper community and the incredible turnout at our events. It is amazing getting to see everyone come together to bond over fly tying- whether they’re seasoned pros or newcomers to the craft. The energy, creativity, and camaraderie are truly what makes Tie One On Tuesdays so special.
For those of you who don’t know, Tie One On Tuesdays are The Ugly Bug Fly Shop’s winter fly tying series. There are three tables each week- beginner, intermediate, and advanced. We provide all the vises and tools, and ask for a $10 donation to help with material costs. We sit down and tie 2-3 patterns, with each week building on the last. They take pace at 6 PM every Tuesday at Frontier Brewing. We are 5 weeks in with 5 more weeks left- it is never too late to start!
What’s Next?
Looking ahead, we have two events that wrap up our fly tying season. The first is a showing of the Fly Fishing Film Tour on March 22nd. Tickets will be available soon- keep an eye out on our socials for this! Lastly, we will host our Bug Battle on March 28th. The Bug battle is an Iron Chef inspired event where tyers use their skills and creativity to create a fly. What’s the catch? Well, almost all of the materials have no business being made into a fly, and the challenges can leave you scratching your head. You will be able to find more information on the Bug Battle on our socials as well in the coming weeks.
Thank you for all who showed up and showed out to our Tie One On last night, and we hope to see you next week.
