Here at the Ugly Bug Fly Shop, we love the fall shoulder season. The Grey Reef has been fishing well. This time of year, we enjoy mid to low sections on the Reef- specifically below Government Bridge and through town. Flows are sitting at 500 CFS and will stay there until spring, making it easily wadable and still floatable. Tricos are coming off in the morning, caddis are hitting in the warmest part of the day, and Blue Wings have been coming off sporadically. We foresee BWOs becoming more prolific in the coming weeks. We are pleased to report there is some opportunity for dry fly fishing as well. The Mile has been fishing well, but we look forward to cooler temperatures and the streamer game ramping up. Caddis, Tricos, and main protein sources have been working. Rusty Trombones and Articulated Goldies have been the go-to streamers. The Mile is also at 500 CFS. We have been hearing positive reports out of Fremont Canyon, mostly on Caddis and Tricos. Call the Ugly Bug Fly Shop to get on the books today!
