It’s still peak season folks! Fishing has been productive on all stretches and historically gets even more fun when temps cool down. There is still some late summer grass in the system, but it’s clearing up by the day.
The Grey Reef is sitting at about 800 CFS and we’ve been floating mostly below Government Bridge. Flows should drop to standard 500 CFS here soon. The Miracle Miracle Mile is just above 500 CFS and as always less numbers up there but the browns will start to move up there once temperatures drop a little more.
You can keep your rig pretty simple right now with a Squirmy Worm, Zirdle Bugs, and small black midges. Half Backs seem to be working well, and then some Trico’s in the morning, and caddis hatches in the afternoon. Mostly sub-surface still as of right now. If streamers are your preference, Rusty Trombones, and Goldies will work as always, along with Bead Head Thin Mints.
We still have room through the end of September and into October as far as guides are concerned. I know a lot of you spend your fall hunting in this area, so if you get lucky and tag out early, give the shop a call and spend the final days of your trip on the water.
