Fall Baetis are really starting to come off and the evening rise has been very good the past few days. Caddis are still around and fish are eating caddis nymphs very well and caddis dries have been effective at times.
Nymphing:
Nymphing and hopper droppers are still very effective when targeting fish feeding on baetis and caddis.
Recommended Flies:
- Midges (Pal, MacGruber, Mayhem) #18-20
- RS2 #18-20 (chocolate, gray)
- Rock Worm #14-18
- San Juan Worm
- Split Case BWO #16-20
- Barr’s BWO emerger #16-20
- Darth Baetis #18-20
- Splitcase PMD
- Bird’s Nest Caddis
- Mallard’s Tanked Trico
Streamer Fishing:
THE STREAMER BITE IS ON! Streamers with a smaller, sparse profile have been most productive. Make sure to have patterns with different amounts of flash, as some days fish have been wanting gaudy streamers, and other days they have wanted a more muted color scheme.
Recommended Streamers:
- Rusty Trombone #4-8
- Articulated Goldie #4
- Articulated Ditch Witch Tan, Olive
- Bob’s Silver Bugger
- Thin Mint Bugger
- Galloup’s Peanut Envy
